Privacy Policy

NewZ is currently published under the NewZ brand by the operator of newz.beer. The operator's formal legal name and service address are still being finalized for this Public Alpha. For access, correction, deletion, objection, portability, restriction, or any other privacy request, email kevingunj@gmail.com with the subject “NewZ privacy request”. The operator may ask for limited information needed to verify that a request concerns you.

NewZ does not currently appoint a separate data-protection officer. The missing controller particulars are an outstanding legal-readiness item, not something this notice or the Alpha label cures. This notice will be updated when those details are confirmed.

When you open the radar, NewZ processes the requested page, locale, selected Polymarket event IDs, filters, and search terms needed to return market data, related events, reporting, and source-specific signals. Signal Search uses POST requests: query text is processed in memory to narrow already relevance-approved material and is not written to the signal database or application logs by NewZ code. Event titles, prices, images, tags, and public reporting come from public or licensed third-party sources; they are not account profile data.

Standard request data such as IP address, user agent, timestamp, route, response status, and errors may be processed by NewZ hosting and upstream providers for delivery, security, abuse prevention, and reliability. NewZ rate limiting stores only a short-lived, process-salted representation of an IP address rather than the raw address.

New account registration and preference sync are disabled. The public pages do not start an authentication session. If legacy account or preference data from an earlier private test concerns you, use the privacy contact above to request access, export, correction, or deletion.

NewZ has no advertising, cross-site tracking, or audience-analytics cookies. It uses functional storage only: newz-locale remembers a language for up to one year; newz:selected-events:v3 remembers an event lens only after you select an event and expires after 90 days without use; and newz:splash-seen avoids replaying the intro during the current browser session.

These items support features you request and are not used to build an advertising profile. You can use the control on this page or your browser settings to remove them. If NewZ later adds non-essential analytics, advertising, or profiling technology, it will be disabled until an appropriate consent choice is available.

NewZ relies on its legitimate interests under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR to operate a public research tool, answer event and news requests, secure the service, prevent abusive traffic, diagnose failures, and improve source relevance. Those interests are limited by data minimization, short retention, aggregate processing, and the right to object where applicable.

NewZ processes privacy requests and records needed to answer them where necessary to comply with legal obligations under Article 6(1)(c). It does not currently rely on consent for advertising or analytics because those activities are not enabled. If an optional feature needs consent later, that feature will remain off until consent is obtained and can be withdrawn.

NewZ may retrieve public market data from Polymarket Gamma and CLOB, publisher discovery from the configured GNews or Exa provider, and—when explicitly enabled—aggregate signals from Google Trends, GDELT, Bluesky, or Hacker News. X and Reddit buttons currently open scoped searches on those services; NewZ does not import or count their search results.

Narrative Pulse analyzes eligible publisher titles and short descriptions for the current event request. Custom Narrative keywords are handled only in process memory and bypass shared snapshot database reads and writes. If you explicitly include public discussion, eligible Bluesky or Hacker News text is processed only for that request and is not returned as raw text or stored in a Narrative snapshot. When Narrative V2 is enabled after shadow evaluation, pinned multilingual models run inside the server function; remote model loading is disabled. User-visible summaries are assembled from fixed templates and evidence links rather than free-generated facts.

Signal snapshots may contain event IDs, market or outcome identifiers, locale or region, aggregate source values, algorithm versions, evidence URLs and titles, coverage, and timestamps. They do not contain social-post bodies, user search text, an account identifier, or an advertising profile. X and Reddit remain search-only unless the applicable official access and commercial terms are documented.

Rankings, related-market suggestions, probabilities, attention, tone, and resolution stance are informational outputs. They are not used to make legal or similarly significant decisions about a person, and NewZ does not use them for individual profiling.

Data is disclosed only as needed to the hosting and source services that answer a request. Current categories include Vercel for hosting, Polymarket for event and price data, the configured publisher-discovery provider, enabled public-signal providers, and publisher or CDN hosts that serve an image. Opening an external article or market sends your browser to that third party, whose own notice applies.

Some providers process data outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Review of the applicable processor terms, transfer safeguards, regional settings, and log retention is still being completed for this Public Alpha. This is an outstanding compliance task; contact NewZ using the address above for the currently available provider information.

Browser event-lens data is removed after 90 days without use or sooner when you clear it; the locale cookie lasts no more than one year; session splash state ends with the browser session. In-memory rate-limit identifiers expire after about one minute, and narrative snapshot buckets after about fifteen minutes.

When the separately gated Signals database is enabled, aggregate Attention and Narrative snapshots are retained for no more than 90 days and event-interest scheduling records for no more than 30 days. Preview and Production use separate database connections. The legacy Attention cache is not reused for Signals V2. NewZ does not create a long-term store of raw request IP addresses, search queries, or community post text.

Hosting security and request logs remain only for the period configured for the active hosting plan and as needed to investigate reliability or security incidents. NewZ application code does not log Signal Search request bodies. Privacy-request records may be kept as long as needed to answer the request and demonstrate compliance.

Where GDPR applies, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, and portability of your personal data; object to processing based on legitimate interests; and withdraw consent for any future consent-based feature. NewZ will respond without undue delay and normally within one month. A complex or repeated request may take longer where the law permits, and NewZ will explain the extension.

You may also complain to the data-protection authority where you live, work, or believe an infringement occurred. The European Data Protection Board publishes a directory of EEA supervisory authorities at edpb.europa.eu/about-edpb/about-edpb/members.

NewZ is a research interface for general audiences and is not designed for children under 16. Account registration is paused, and NewZ does not knowingly collect child account data.

NewZ uses access controls, secret separation, minimized logging, encrypted transport, and source gating appropriate to the service. No online system can guarantee absolute security. Material changes to this notice will be dated here and, where required, presented before the changed processing begins.
